Entrance Hymn

From the womb before the morning star have I begotten You. The Lord has sworn and will not repent: You are a priest forever according to the order of Melchizedek.

Tropar, Tone 4

Your Nativity, Christ our God, has shone to the world the Light of Wisdom. For by it those who worshiped the stars were taught by a star to adore You, the Sun of Righteousness and to know You the Orient from on High. Lord, glory to You.

Kondak, Tone 3

Today, the Virgin gives birth to the Transcendent One and the earth offers a cave to the Unapproachable One. Angels with shepherds glorify Him. The Magi journey with the star. Since for our sake the Eternal God was born as a little Child.

Instead of the Thrice-Holy Hymn

As many as have been baptized into Christ, have been robed in Christ. Alleluia. (3 times)

Prokimen

Priest: Let us be attentive! Peace be with you all!

Reader: And with your spirit!

Deacon: Wisdom!

Reader: The Prokimen in Tone 8: Let all the earth worship You and praise You. Let it praise Your Name, O Most High.

Choir: (repeats the prokimen)

Reader: Make a joyful noise to God, all the earth. Sing of His Name, give glory to His praise.

Choir: (repeats the prokimen)

Reader: Let all the earth worship You and praise You.

Choir: Let it praise Your Name, O Most High.

Epistle

Deacon: Wisdom!

Reader: The reading is from the Letter of St. Paul to the Galatians.

Deacon: Let us be attentive.

Reader: Brethren, when the fullness of the time had come, God sent forth His Son, born of a woman, born under the law, to redeem those who were under the law, that we might receive the adoption as sons. And because you are sons, God has sent forth the Spirit of His Son into your hearts, crying out, "Abba, Father!" Therefore you are no longer a slave but a son, and if a son, then an heir of God through Christ.

Priest: Peace be with you.

Reader: And with your spirit. Alleluia, alleluia, alleluia.

Alleluia Verses, Tone 1

Verse: The heavens declare the glory of God, and the firmament proclaims the work of His Hands.

Verse: Day speaks to the day and night shows knowledge to the night.

Gospel

Matthew 2:1–12

Instead of "It is right in truth"

Magnify, my soul, the Most-Pure Virgin Birth-Giver of God who is greater in honor and more glorious than the hosts on high.

Irmos, Tone 1: A strange and wonderful mystery do I see: The cave is heaven, the Virgin the Throne of the Cherubim and the manger a room in which Christ, the Uncontainable God, is laid. Him do we praise and magnify.

Communion Verse

The Lord has sent deliverance to His people. Alleluia, alleluia, alleluia.

Kondak, Tone 6

He Who was begotten before the morning star of the Father without a mother, today is made Flesh from you without a father. A star announces the glad tidings to the Magi. Angels and shepherds chant the praises of your Most-Pure Childbearing. Lady full of grace.

Choir: (repeats the prokimen)

Reader: My soul magnifies the Lord

Choir: and my spirit rejoices in God my Savior.

Epistle

Deacon: Wisdom!

Reader: The reading is from the Letter of St. Paul to the Hebrews.

Deacon: Let us be attentive.

Reader: Brethren, for both He who sanctifies and those who are being sanctified are all of one, for which reason He is not ashamed to call them brethren, saying: "I will declare Your name to My brethren; In the midst of the assembly I will sing praise to You." And again: "I will put My trust in Him." And again: "Here am I and the children whom God has given Me." Inasmuch then as the children have partaken of flesh and blood, He Himself likewise shared in the same, that through death He might destroy him who had the power of death, that is, the devil, and release those who through fear of death were all their lifetime subject to bondage. For indeed He does not give aid to angels, but He does give aid to the seed of Abraham. Therefore, in all things He had to be made like His brethren, that He might be a merciful and faithful High Priest in things pertaining to God, to make propitiation for the sins of the people. For in that He Himself has suffered, being tempted, He is able to aid those who are tempted.

Alleluia, Tone 8

Verse: Arise Lord, into Your rest; You and the Ark of Your Holiness.

Verse: The Lord has sworn in truth to David and He will not turn from it.

Gospel

Matthew 2: 13–23

Instead of "It is right in truth ..."
