Priest. Let us be attentive. Pease be with you all.
Reader: And with your spirit. The Prokimen in tone 5. Thou, O Lord, shall protect us / and preserve us from this generation for ever!
Verse: save me , O Lord, for there is no longer any that is godly.
Priest: Wisdom! Reader: The reading from the letter of Apostle Paul to the Romans. Priest: Let us be attentive.
Reader: Brothers, having then gifts differing according to the grace that is given to us, let us use them: if prophecy, let us prophesy in proportion to our faith; or ministry, let us use it in our ministering, he who teaches, in teaching; he who exhorts, in exhorting; he who gives, with liberality; he who leads, with diligence; he who shows mercy, with cheerfulness. Let love be without hypocrisy. Abhor what is evil. Cling to what is good. Be kindly affectionate to one another with brotherly love, in honor giving preference to one another; not lagging in diligence, fervent in spirit, serving the Lord; rejoicing in hope, patient in tribulation, continuing steadfastly in prayer; distributing to the needs of the saints given to hospitality. Bless those who persecute you; bless and do not curse. Rejoice with those who rejoice, and weep with those who weep.
Priest: Peace be with you reader.
Reader: And with your spirit. Alleluia. Alleluia. Alleluia. I will sing of Thy mercies, O Lord, for ever with my mouth I will proclaim Thy truth from generation to generation. Verse: For Thou has said; “Mercy will be established for ever, and My truth will be prepared in the heavens.”

Saint Volodymyr, Great Prince of Kyiv. Volodymyr was an idol-worshipper, passionate and warlike, when he ascended the Kyiv’s throne in 980 A.D he was the grandson of Saint Olga. However, he was illumined by the Grace of God and was baptized eight years after he became prince. When he left the baptismal font, he was healed of a recent blindness and he became meek, peaceable, and godly. He married Anna, the sister of Emperors Basil and Constantine, and was accompanied back to Kyiv by priests. He sought to spread Christianity throughout his realm. He destroyed the idol and had their chief priests scourged and thrown into a river. He established churches, seminaries, and monasteries and build the great cathedral of Tithes. Many miracles have occurred at his grave.

Genuine courage is always united with the feeling of deep humility. A humble person is always ready to endure everything, both internal and external - considering himself not only to be deserving of the sorrows that are sent to him, but even more. It is impossible to upset and confuse a humble person - he is ready for everything. /St. Nikon of Optina/

Pray for the sick: The Lord said: “Do unto others as you would want them do unto you.” So if we will be sick, we will ask help from God, we will ask priests and people to pray for us. In order for the Lord to listen to us when we are sick, we need to pray for those who are sick. O Lord our God, Who by Your Word alone healed all diseases; Who cured the Mother-in-law of Apostle Peter; Who chastises with pity and heals according to Your goodness; Who are able to put aside every malady and infirmity: Do You the same Lord, now relieve Your servants: Peter Dobrasky, Eleza Kourevelis, John Buchma, Charles Stasko, Stephanie Sabath, Doris Okrepkie, Susan Cosner, Paul Chebiniak, John Glowa, John Tylko, Evelyn Kanazawich, Robert Kocak, Audrey Klym, Michael Hovancik, Kevin Terpak, Mildred Charnetsky, Mary & Walter Gulachok, Mary Gormish, Olga Gooley, Mary Ford, John Mihalko, Margaret Klish, Marlyn Klish, Cypryan Klish II, Sophia Malowicky, Genevieve Sadowitz, Anne and Karen Girnis, Julie Sadowitz, Catherine Dobransky, Pelahia Kit, Stephania Moroz, Mildred Bogdan, Wasyl Krawecki, Meghan Scannell, Olga Drost, Marion Kaspryk, Nicholas Corba, and cure them of the sicknesses which grieves them; lift them up from their beds of pain, sending down upon them Your mercy; and if it be Your will, give to them health and a complete recovery. For You are the Physician of our souls and bodies, and to You we ascribe glory: to the Father, to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit now and ever and unto ages of ages Amen.

PATIENCE: There is a child’s verse that says: Patients is a virtue, and virtue is a grace. Put them both together , and you’ll have a pretty face.
It sounds rather silly, yet like all saying coming out of old folk wisdom, it has a lot of truth in it.
Patience is indeed a great virtue, one not so easily come by. It is a heavenly grace, a Christian quality, self discipline and charity in word and deed, but obtained only as a gift of God. It is one of God’s attributes, for we know Him as long-suffering as well as just. Therefore to obtain this virtue we must look God-ward and pray that this grace will be vouchsafed us.
Can we, sinful as we are, aspire to one of God’s attributes? Yes, we can, because God created us in His image and likeness. Therefore not only can we but we must make every spiritual effort to find again our likeness to God, our original beauty. For in our endeavor to find one more our likeness to God, there are many virtues we must acquire, all of which are united in Jesus Christ the Perfect Man. We can never be Christ, but we can humbly touch the hem of His robe and be cured of the ills of our unlikeness.
Patience with others and even with ourselves is an implicit part of love. Who has not known moment of exasperation with a person we dearly love? Sometimes we are sorely tried by our friends and neighbors and the people we try to help. But if we were not patient, we would be lacking in love, and our charity would become merely a social obligation. Nature teaches us a lesson in the way season follows season. The snow melts, flowers bloom, paying little attention to our struggles and man-made disasters. There is an inspiration to be found in nature’s quiet, serene persistence and fulfillment. We are not all made alike; we are individuals, children of God, each having his or her calling and capacities, all valuable. We may not be responsible for what we are born, but we are responsible for what we became, and to become a fully responsible person, a true follower of Christ, we need infinite patience and faith.
