Reader: The Prokimen in tone1. Let Thy mercy, O Lord, be upon us / as we have set our hope on Thee. Verse: Rejoice in the Lord, o ye Righteous! Praise befits the just! Priest: Wisdom!
Reader: The reading from the Acts of the Apostle. Priest: Let us be attentive.
Reader: Brothers through the hands of the apostles many signs and wonders were done among the people. And they were all with one accord in Solomon’s Porch. Yet none of the rest dared join them, but the people esteemed them highly. And believers were increasingly added to the Lord, multitudes of both men and women, so that they brought the sick out into the streets and lain them on beds and couches, that at least the shadow of Peter passing by might fall on some of them. Also a multitude gathered from the surrounding cities to Jerusalem, bringing sick people and those who were tormented by unclean spirits, and they were all healed. Then the high priest rose up, and all they that were with him, which is the sect of the Sadducees and were filled with indignation. And laid their hands on the apostles, and put them in the common prison. But the angel of the Lord by night opened the prison doors, and brought them forth, and said; “Go, stand and speak in the temple to the people all the words of this life.” Priest: Peace be with you reader.
Reader: And with your spirit. Alleluia, Alleluia, Alleluia.
Priest: Peace be with you reader.
Reader: And with your spirit. Alleluia, Alleluia, Alleluia.
Verse: God gives vengeance unto me, and subdues people under me!
Verse: He magnifies the salvation of the king, and deals mercifully with Christ, with David and his seed for ever.

News from Holy Myrrhbearers Monastery. Myrrhbearers Sunday, our Patronal Feast, come quickly right after Pascha and we invite all of you to join us for any or all of the events of our Pilgrimage, Myrrhbearers Weekend May 10-11
With the blessing of our bishop, Metropolitan Herman, Bishop Tikhon of Philadelphia will preside on Saturday, May 10, 2008. The Divine Liturgy will begin at 10 AM, during which we plan, God willing, to have his grace tonsure to the schema (life-profess) two of our sisters and receive a third in her rank. We ask your prayers for these women as they prepare for this next step in their lives. The day will continue with an Akathist at 1:30 PM, a Healing Service at 3:30 PM and Vigil at 6 PM
On the next day, Sunday, May 11th, Divine Liturgy will began at 10 AM. A Healing Service will follow at 2 PM and we will end with Vespers at 4 PM.
Since we cannot know how many guests to prepare for ahead of time for this weekend and so many of you are good cooks, we always have Potluck refreshments: Anything you would like to bring is welcome. However if all you can bring is yourself, please do that! Our own contribution to refreshments traditionally includes our own homemade bread and cheese. We will have open house with a chance to meet the sisterhood, see our monastery and tour our Zoar Farms. Lambing and kidding season will be in full swing and there should be a number of absolutely adorable babies to be hugged and petted. This year we have the further possibility that there will be baby chicks and ducklings. The recent gift of an egg brooder has our poultry manager very excited and already working on what she hopes will be her first hatching.

To appropriately commemorate the 75th Anniversary of Ukraine’s Genocide of 1932-33, the Ukrainian World Congress’ Holodomor Committee has organized an International Torch Relay. A torch will be passed from city to city where there are Ukrainian communities in order to bring attention to the Holodomor of 1932-33. The torch is scheduled to be in Binghamton on May 21, 2008, so please save this date in your calendar. In our community a commemoration event will take place at Binghamton City Hall on that date. The time has not yet been established, most likely it will be in the afternoon. The mayor of Binghamton has agreed to issue a proclamation about the HOLODOMOR and a short program will follow. The Torch is meant to raise awareness within the greater American community about this tragedy, as well as to honor the 7-10 million victims of the Holodomor. For those interested in learning more about this Ukrainian tragedy, there is an internet website dedicated to informing about the Holodomor:

O Lord our God, Who by Your Word alone healed all diseases; Who cured the Mother-in-law of Apostle Peter; Who chastises with pity and heals according to Your goodness; Who are able to put aside every malady and infirmity: Do You the same Lord, now relieve Your servants: Frances Talcott, Josephine Baranyk, John Buchma, Charles Stasko, Doris Okrepkie, Susan Cosner, Mary Tarcha, Paul Chebiniak, John Glowa, John Tylko, Evelyn Kanazawich, Robert Kocak, Audrey Klym, Michael Hovancik, Kevin Terpak, Mildred Charnetsky, Mary & Walter Gulachok, Mary Gormish, Olga Gooley, Mary Ford, John and Mary Mihalko, Margaret Klish, Marlyn Klish, Cypryan Klish II, Sophia Malowicky, Genevieve Sadowitz, Anne and Karen Girnis, Julie Sadowitz, Catherine Dobransky, Pelahia Kit, Stephania Moroz, Mildred Bogdan, Wasyl Krawecki, Meghan Scannell, Olga Drost, Marion Kaspryk, Nicholas Corba, and cure them of the sicknesses which grieves them; lift them up from their beds of pain, sending down upon them Your mercy; and if it be Your will, give to them health and a complete recovery. У
Також для дівчат провели спеціальну “романтичну” галявину, де вони дарували своїм коханим розписані писанки.***************************************************************Please let Father know if you are a veteran of any war.
