Priest: Let us be attentive! Peace be with you all! Reader: And with your spirit! Priest: Wisdom!

Reader: The Prokimen in tone 4. O Lord, how manifold are Your works! /In wisdom hast You made them all!

Verse: Bless the Lord, o my soul! O my God, You art very great!

Priest: Wisdom!

Reader: The reading from the first letter of Apostle Paul to Timothy.

Priest: Let us be attentive

Reader: Brothers, this is a faithful saying and worthy of all acceptance. For to this end we both labor and suffer reproach, because we trust in the living God, who is the Savior of all man, especially of those who believe. These things command and teach. Let no one despise your youth, but be an example to the believers in word, in conduct, in love, in spirit, in faith, in purity. Till I come, give attention to reading, to exhortation, to doctrine. Do not neglect the gift that is in you, which was given to you by prophecy with the laying on of the hands of the eldership. Meditate on these things; give yourself entirely to them, that your progress may be evident to all. Take heed to yourself and to the doctrine. Continue in them, for in doing this you will save both yourself and those who hear you. Priest: Peace be with you reader.

Reader: And with your spirit. Alleluia, Alleluia, Alleluia.

Verse: Go forth, prosper and reign, because of truth and meekness and righteousness. Verse: You love righteousness and hate iniquity.

A Prayer for Healing: Lord, You invite all who are burdened to come to you. Allow Your healing hand to heal me. Touch my soul with Your compassion for others. Touch my heart with Your courage and infinite love for all. Touch my mind with Your wisdom, that my mouth may always proclaim Your praise. Teach me to reach out to You in my need, and help me to lead others to You by my example. O God bring me health in body and Spirit that I might serve You with all my strength. Touch gentle this life which You have created, now and forever. Amen.

METROPOLITAN CONSTANTINE RECIPIENT OF THE UKRAINIAN GOVERNMENT’S AWARD “FOR MERITS!”

On January 22nd, the day Ukraine observes the unification of all its provinces, Ukraine’s President Victor Yushchenko, by signing the document No.33/2008 presented the “For Merits” awards to Ukrainians – citizens of other countries. Among the recipients of this award was the Primate of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church in the U.S.A. Metropolitan Constantine, who was honored “For his significant personal contribution in popularizing Ukraine’s historical and contemporary achievements and helping establish its positive image in the world”.

Note: The Award “FOR MERITS” goes back to August 18, 1992, when it became the first award given by the President of an independent Ukraine. On September 22,1996 this award was transformed into the “Merit Award III grade”.

The medal itself is in the form of an eight-pronged star with rays emanating from its center. It is made of gold-plated sterling silver. In the center of the star there is a round, blue enamel-covered medallion, with a trident (the official emblem of Ukraine) in the center. It is surrounded by a crimson enameled border with the words “FOR MERITS” and “UKRAINE” depicted thereon.

Isn't it strange

Isn't it strange how a 20 dollar bill seems like such a large amount when you donate it to church, but such a small amount when you go shopping?

Isn't it strange how 2 hours seem so long when you're at church, and how short they seem when you're watching a good movie?

Isn't it strange that you can't find a word to say when you're praying but
you have no trouble thinking what to talk about with a friend?

Isn’t it strange how difficult and boring it is to read one chapter of the Bible but how easy it is to read 100 pages of a popular novel or Zane Grey book? Isn’t it is strange how everyone wants front-row-tickets to concerts or games but they do whatever is possible to sit at the last row in Church?

Isn't it strange how we need to know about an event for Church 2-3 weeks before the day so we can include it in our agenda, but we can adjust it for other events in the last minute?

Isn't it strange how difficult it is to learn a fact about God to share it with others; but how easy it is to learn, understand, extend and repeat gossip?

Isn't it strange how we believe everything that magazines and newspapers say but... we question the words in the Bible?

Isn't it strange how everyone wants a place in heaven but... they don't want to believe, do, or say anything to get there?

Isn't it strange how we send jokes in e-mails and they are forwarded right away but when we are going to send messages about God, we think about it twice before we share it with others? /Author unknown/

In order for the Lord to listen to us when we are sick, we need to pray for those who are sick. O Lord our God, Who by Your Word alone healed all diseases; Who cured the Mother-in-law of Apostle Peter; Who chastises with pity and heals according to Your goodness; Who are able to put aside every malady and infirmity: Do You the same Lord, now relieve Your servants: Fr.
