Priest: Let us be attentive! Peace be with you all! Reader: And with your spirit! Priest: Wisdom!
Reader: The Prokimen in tone 6. O Lord, save Thy people / and bless Thine inheritance!
Verse: To Thee, O Lord, will I call. O my God, be not silent to me! Priest: Wisdom!
Reader: The reading from the letter of Apostle Paul to the Hebrews. Priest: Let us be attentive
Reader: Brothers, by faith Abraham dwelt in the land of promise as in a foreign country, dwelling in tents with Isaac and Jacob, the heirs with him of the same promise; for he waited for the city which has foundations, whose builder and maker is God. By faith Abraham, when he was tested, offered up Isaac, and he who had received the promises offered up his only begotten son, of whom it was said, “In Isaac your seed shall be called,” concluding that God was able to raise him up, even from the dead, from which he also received him in a figurative sense. By faith Isaac blessed Jacob and Esau concerning things to come. By faith Jacob, when he was dying, blessed each of the sons of Joseph, and worshiped, leaning on the top of his staff. By faith Joseph, when he was dying, made mention of the departure of the children of Israel, and gave instructions concerning his bones. By faith Moses, when he was born, was hidden three month by his parents, and they were not afraid of the king’s command. And what more shall I say? For the time would fail me to tell of Gideon and Barak and Samson and Jephthan, also of David and Samuel and the prophets: who through faith subdued kingdoms, worked righteousness, obtained promises, stopped the mouth of lions, quenched the violence of fire, escaped the edge of the sword, out of weakness were made strong, became valiant in battle, turned to flight the armies of the aliens. Women received their dead raised to life again. Others were tortured, not accepting deliverance, that they might obtain a better resurrection. Still others had trial of mockings and scourging, yes, and of chains and imprisonment. They were stoned, they were sawn in two, were tempted, were slain with the sword. They wandered about in sheepskins and goatskins, being destitute, afflicted, tormented-of whom the world was not worthy. They wandered in deserts and mountains, in dens and caves of the earth. And all these, having obtained a good testimony through faith, did not receive the promise, God having pr ovided something better for us, that they should not be made perfect apart from us.
Priest: Peace be with you reader.
Reader: And with your spirit. Alleluia, Alleluia, Alleluia.
Verse: He who dwells in the shelter of the Most-High will abide in the shadow of the heavenly God!
Verse: He will say to the Lord: “My protector and my Refuge; my God, in whom I trust!”

Today on Sunday of the Holy Forefathers Orthodox Church commemorate Prophet Daniel and the Three Holy Children, Ananias, Azarias, and Misael. Daniel is one of the four great prophets in the Old Testament, along with Isaiah, Jeremiah, and Ezekiel. The Book of Daniel can be read there. Nabuchadbezzar took Daniel and many others into slavery as children when he attacked Jerusalem. Daniel had a great gift of discernment. He saw God and often saw His angels. He saw the future of people as well as kingdoms. He foretold the times of Savior Jesus Christ. He is best known for interpreting the dream of Nebuchadnezzar, and for this he was made a prince. When his three companions, Ananias, Azarias, and Misael, refused to worship the king’s golden idol, they were thrown into a furnace, but an angel of god preserved them, making the flames cool, and the three were honored. Daniel later interpreted unreadable words etched onto a wall by an unseen hand that foretold King Belshazzar’s impending death at the hands of the Persians. Daniel was thrown to lions, but he tamed them. The four lived to old age, were beheaded, and later were said to have risen and walked among the people of Jerusalem after the crucifixion of Jesus Christ our God and Savior.

Pray for the sick: The Lord said: “Do unto others as you would want them do unto you.” So if we will be sick, we will ask help from God, we will ask priests and people to pray for us. In order for the Lord to listen to us when we are sick, we need to pray for those who are sick. O Lord our God, Who by Your Word alone healed all diseases; Who cured the Mother-in-law of Apostle Peter; Who chastises with pity and heals according to Your goodness; Who are able to put aside every malady and infirmity: Do You the same Lord, now relieve Your servants: Fr. Michael Michalopolos, Charles Ellsworth, John Tylko, Helen Rucky, Paul Chebiniak, Evelyn Kanazawich, Robert Kocak, Audrey and Eugene Klym, Michael Hovancik, Kevin Terpak, Emilia Lewkowicz, Mildred Charnetsky, Mary & Walter Gulachok, Mary Gormish, Olga Gooley, Mary Ford, John and Mary Mihalko, Margaret Klish, Marlyn Klish, Cypryan Klish II, Sophia Malowicky, Genevieve Sadowitz, Michael Sr. Duby, Anne and Karen Girnis, Julie Sadowitz, Catherine Dobransky, Pelahia Kit, Stephania Moroz, Mildred Bogdan, Wasyl Krawecki, Meghan Scannell, Olga Drost, Marion Kaspryk, Nicholas Corba, and cure them of the sicknesses which grieves them; lift them up from their beds of pain, sending down upon them Your mercy; and if it be Your will, give to them health and a complete recovery. For You are the Physician of our souls and bodies, and to You we ascribe glory: to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit, now and ever and unto ages of ages.
