Priest: Let us be attentive! Peace be with you all!

Reader: And with your spirit! Priest: Wisdom!

Reader: The Prokimen in tone 2.The Lord is my strength and my song / He has become my salvation.

Verse: The Lord has chastened me sorely, but He has not given me over unto death. Priest: Wisdom!

Reader: The reading from the letter of Apostle Paul to the Ephesians.

Priest: Let us be attentive

Reader: Brothers, finally be strong in the Lord and in the power of His might. Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the wise of the devil. For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places. Therefore take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand. Stand therefore, having girded your waist with truth, having put on the breastplate of righteousness, and having shod your feet with the preparation of the gospel of peace; above all, taking the shield of faith with which you will be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked one. And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit. Which is the word of God; praying always all prayer and supplication in the Spirit., being watchful to this end with all perseverance and supplication for all the saints.

Priest: Peace be with you reader.

Reader: And with your spirit. Alleluia, Alleluia, Alleluia.

Verse: The Lord answer thee in the day of trouble! The name of the God of Jacob protect thee! Verse: Save the king, O Lord, and hear us on the day we call!

This year St. Herman’s Monastery and house of Hospitality of Cleveland, Ohio is observing its 30th year of charitable service to the needy.

St. Herman’s is a monastic community in the Central Eparchy of our Holy Ukrainian Orthodox Church of the USA, located in the historic inner city of Cleveland. The mission of the community is to serve people and to preach the Gospel through good deeds in Christ’s love. The monastery primarily helps indigent men (although homeless women and children also partake of the meals) by feeding and clothing them, as well as providing emotional support and access to health and social services. The Home averages 84, 000 meals and 17,000 showers per year, 35 men can be housed per night, with an average stay of two weeks. The men must meet the following criteria: be sober, coherent, compliant and destitute to be eligible for service and assistance. As a harsh as this may sound, these criteria are absolutely necessary due to space and staff capability.

For many years, St. Herman’s has been blessed with many supporters and benefactors that have been co-laborers in this Holy Ministry. Financial support, channeled through the friends of St. Herman’s, is restricted to the feeding and housing the needy and to the maintenance of the facilities. All donations and disbursement are accounted for and records audited.

The Friends of St. Herman’s have tax exempt status through the Consistory of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church of the USA. Donations received are all acknowledged and receipted, qualifying for income tax deductions.

During this season of Thanksgiving, we are thankful to God for the dedication of Ihumen John and the monastic community and its volunteers for their untiring efforts and we encourage you all to pray for the continued success of the charitable ministry at St. Herman Monastery and to generously support it financially, spiritually and morally. We will forward all funds received by 15 December to the Friends of St. Herman support organization. Checks can be made out to St. Herman Fund. Invoking the blessing of our merciful Lord upon the needy, the monastics, volunteers, and benefactors of St. Herman’s Monastery and House of Hospitality, we remain in Christ’s Love, +Constantine, Metropolitan +Antony, Archbishop +Vsevolod, Archbishop

Pray for the sick: The Lord said: “Do unto others as you would want them do unto you.” So if we will be sick, we will ask help from God, we will ask priests and people to pray for us. In order for the Lord to listen to us when we are sick, we need to pray for those who are sick. O Lord our God, Who by Your Word alone healed all diseases; Who cured the Mother-in-law of Apostle Peter; Who chastises with pity and heals according to Your goodness; Who are able to put aside every malady and infirmity: Do You the same Lord, now relieve Your servants: Archbishop Vsevolod, Fr. Michael Michalopolos, Charles Ellsworth, John Tylko, Helen Rucky, Paul Chebiniak, Evelyn Kanazawich, Robert Kocak, Audrey and Eugene Klym, Michael Hovancik, Kevin Terpak, Emilia Lewkowicz, Mildred Charnetsky, Mary & Walter Gulachok, Mary Gormish, Olga Gooley, Mary Ford, John and Mary Mihalko, Margaret Klish, Marlyn Klish, Cypryan Klish II, Sophia Malowicky, Genevieve Sadowitz, Michael Sr. Duby, Anne and Karen Girnis, Julie Sadowitz, Catherine Dobransky, Pelahia Kit, Stephania Moroz, Mildred Bogdan, Wasyl Krawecki, Meghan Scannell, Olga Drost, Marion Kaspryk, Nicholas Corba, and cure them of the sicknesses which grieves them; lift them up from their beds of pain, sending down upon them Your mercy; and if it be Your will, give to them health and a complete recovery. For You are the Physician of our souls and bodies, and to You we ascribe glory: to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit, now and ever and unto ages of ages.
