Reader
: Brethren, all things are lawful for me, but all things are not helpful. All things are lawful for me, but I will not be brought under the power of any. Foods for the stomach and the stomach for foods, but God will destroy both it and them. Now the body is not for sexual immorality but for the Lord, and the Lord for the body. And God both raised up the Lord and will also raise us up by His power. Do you not know that your bodies are members of Christ? Shall I then take the members of Christ and make them members of a harlot? Certainly not! Or do you not know that he who is joined to a harlot is one body with her? For “the two,” He says, “shall become one flesh.” But he who is joined to the Lord is one spirit with Him. Flee sexual immorality. Every sin that a man does is outside the body, but he who commits sexual immorality sins against his own body. Or do you not know that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God, and you are not your own. For you were bought at a price; therefore glorify God in your body and in your spirit, which are God’s.Priest: Peace be with you reader.
Reader: And with your spirit. Alleluia, Alleluia, Alleluia.
Verse: God gives vengeance unto me, and subdues people under me!
Verse: he magnifies the salvation of the king, and deals mercifully with Christ, with David and his seed for ever.

The holy Angels in our faith and life. We continue the explanation of the icons in the altar area. In today’s bulletin you can read what the seven archangels hold in the scroll. This is the message in the book of revelation, to the seven churches. The Archangel message is the seven levels of faith. From lowest to highest (perfection), from the first Archangel Michael to Archangel Gabriel. The Archangels help us to improve this faith. We can not improve out faith by ourselves we need the help of the Archangels God’s messengers. Those who reject their help, they are weak in the faith. So here are the messages that the seven Archangels hold on their scrolls:
1) Archangel Michael: “To him who overcomes, I will grant to eat of the tree of life, which is in the Paradise.” (Revelation 2:7)
2) Archangel Gabriel: “He who overcomes shall not be hurt by the second death.” (Rev. 2:11)
3) Archangel Raphael: “To him who overcomes, to him I will give of the hidden manna, and I will give him a white stone, and a new name written on the stone which no one knows but he who receives it.” (Rev. 2:17)
4) Archangel Uriel: “He who overcomes, and he who keeps My deeds until the end, to him I will give authority over the gentiles; and he shall rule them with a rod of iron, as the vessels of the potter are broken to pieces, as I also have received authority from My father; and I will give him the morning star. (Rev. 2 :27)
5) Archangel Salaphiel: “He who overcomes shall thus be closed in white garments; and I will not erase his name from the book of life, and I will confess his name before My father, and before His angels” (Rev. 3: 5)
6) Archangel Jegudiel: “He who overcomes, I will make him a pillar in the temple of My God, and he will not go out from it anymore; and I will write upon him the name of My God, and the name of the city of My God, the new Jerusalem, which comes down out of heaven from My God, and My new name. (Rev. 3:12)
7) Archangel Barachiel: “He who overcomes, I will grant to him to sit down with Me on My throne, as I also overcome and sat down with My Father on His throne.” (Rev. 3:21) / Will continue in the next Sunday’s Bulletin/

Today is the Sunday of Prodigal Son. (St. Luke 15:11-32)
A major league umpire was asked if he ever made mistakes in calling balls and strikes. He replied, “Of course, I make mistakes. My only trouble is I can’t admit it.” Our hope in life as Christians is the humility to admit to ourselves and to god that not being infallible or perfect, we have made mistakes and do make them every day.
If you were asked what is the hardest task in the world, you might think of some muscular feat, some acrobatic challenge or some act of bravery on the battlefield. Actually, however, there is nothing harder, nothing more arduous than to say these three words, “I was wrong.” It takes a humility and a self-effacement such as few people are capable. Yet no three words are more needed in our life than the words, “I was wrong.” They are magic words; words that reconcile; words that unite; words that heal wounds and bring peace.
There are friends and relatives who have not spoken to each other for years. How different things could be if only one of them would take the initiative to practice a little Christian humility and say, “I am sorry about the situation. I know I was wrong.”
The first law of mental health is to be honest with yourself. If you have done wrong, don’t hide it. Don’t bury your guilt feelings in your subconscious mind where they will fester and come out as hypertension, neurasthenia or neurosis. Face the facts about yourself. Admit them. Confess them.
The prodigal Son in today’s Gospel lesson was honest with himself. It was when he admitted the wrong in himself and said, “I have sinned” that he came to his true self. A new chapter of his life began that very day. A new chapter can begin for us if, bidding good-by to self-excuse, self-pity, self-defense, we will face the facts about ourselves and say: Yes, that’s the kind of person I am; that is the sort of thing I am capable of doing and have done, but, by the grace of God, I can be different, and I will be different.
It is not enough to say just to oneself, “I have sinned.” This can lead to despair and suicide. When Judas, for example, saw that Christ was condemned, he brought the money to the chief priest and elders and said, “I have sinned in that I have betrayed innocent blood.” Then, throwing the pieces of silver in the temple, he went and hanged himself. Judas was remorseful enough to admit his sin to himself and to the chief priest, but he just could not bring himself to face Jesus and say, “I’m sorry. Forgive me.” Jesus who forgave the penitent thief on the cross, would have forgive Judas, too, if he had gone to the cross and confessed.
This is the way God welcomes us when, with deep repentance in our hearts, we come to Him with those magic words: “I was wrong.”
